The Philanthropist (NBC TV series) & me

the philanthropist 2009

I really love this series (The Philanthropist, 2009). Many knows me on my interest in multinational films, Comedy, Romance and Action genres. But not much on my so call secrecy interests in orphanage, philosophical, wisdoms, inspirational, charities, volunteering and the unfortunate events genres.

philanthropist nbc

This series like some great movies I encountered (like The Peaceful Warrior and The lost and found family) gives another addition to the meaning in life. It helps you to define more what you can and willing to do for others; and also enable how you can appreciate, love and help them.

Philanthropy etymologically means “the love of humanity”—love in the sense of caring for, nourishing, developing, or enhancing; humanity in the sense of “what it is to be human,” or “human potential.” – Wikipedia

This series centered on Mr. Teddy Rist (portrayed by James Purefoy). He is a British-American billionaire, driven to do good works after the death of his son. His Co-CEO Philips Maidstone (Jesse L. Martin) and wife Olivia (Neve Campbell) helps Teddy along his challenging determination adventures. The Philanthropist is based loosely on the life of Bobby Sager. (And personally I would love to meet Mr. Bobby Sager!)

Sadly, this series was only went for 8 episodes in Summer 2009. I wish NBC could produce and lengthen its story; because this is worth to watch and understand.

the philanthropist EP6 San Dieago

What I learned from this series? Well many. But 1 thing that I would like to highlight is during Episode 6: San Diego. Towards the end of the episode, Teddy Rist is seen hanging photo frames. This gets my attention to follow his behavior.

My+Friends A photo frame of a meaningful friends; Sons and Daughter of HT of Medewa village hanged on my Study / Computer Room’s wall. (Part of 2013 New York Trip Motivation. hehe)

I want to continue to frame photos of people who gave my life happiness and meaningful. By this way, it will not only helps me to remember them and their contribution to my life; but somehow make easier for me to acknowledge and give appreciation towards them. Apart from this novelties sentiment, it will definitely looks gorgeous, filled by beautiful people’s face hanging on my study / computer room’s wall.

Remembering Andy Whitfield. He was Spartacus.

I should have post this earlier, but I’m not sure what happen in September. I have high respect for Andy Whitfield; was an Welsh actor. He performed remarkable in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. May you rest in Peace.  Condolences to his family and friends. Whitfield died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma on 11 September 2011, 18 months after his initial cancer diagnosis (March 2010).

Andy Whitfield (17 July 1972 – 11 September 2011)

Men’s Health was so inspired by Whitfield and the show that we created the now-legendary Spartacus Workout (and its two sequels, Spartacus 2.0 and Spartacus 3.0, available at Men’s Health Personal Trainer.) Each plan is a high-intensity circuit routine designed to be as fierce as the actor’s commitment to sculpting a lean body.

Song: So Easily
Album: Are You My Mother? (July 2011)
Featured on: Warehouse 13 (Tv Series) Season 3 Episode 2: Trials

Lyrics
Windows of black kick in
I’ve got my light within on
To keep out those haunters
those midnight-wandering songs

I can remember your face
When you said to me
How can you,
How can you so easily fold
How can you so easily fold

You swing me around
I can never say no to you,
no no no
I’m not the only one
I know that’s just what you do

I can remember your face
When you said to me
How are you,
How are you so easily fooled
How are you so easily fooled

Storm has subsided
I’m only half back inside
I can’t erase it
The light rays are fitting your eyes

I can remember the place
Where you said to me
How can you,
How can you so easily go
How can you so easily go

Who? The Cataracs and DEV

I’m loving The Cataracs and DEV. Very intoxicating!

Below a re-post, from Jack the Dog Musings of an American Mongrel

cataracs
The Cataracs are an American hip hop indie-pop duo formed in Berkeley, California, consisting of David “Campa” Benjamin Singer-Vine, a songwriter and vocalist and Niles “Cyrano” Hollowell-Dhar, a songwriter, vocalist, and producer.

The duo started out as an independent group, during their years at Berkeley High School. The two were first signed to the label Indie-Pop. They describe their music as “an everyday man’s take on pop music.

Cool, dry beats and neo-pyschedelic flows characterize this Berkeley group’s contribution to the burgeoning hyphy movement. Less raucous than Dem Hoodstarz but perfectly willing to sin, the Cataracs put another pushpin in the Bay Area map.
Dev

Devin Star Tailes (born July 2, 1989), better known by her stage name Dev, is an American recording artist. She was discovered by The Cataracs when she made an Amy  Winehouse cover and posted it onto MySpace back in 2008.

Dev’s song Booty Bounce was sampled in Far East Movement’s hit single Like A G6 which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold over two million downloads in the country.

Dev was signed to Universal Republic in October 2010 and released her first official single, Bass Down Low in December. The song debuted at number ninety-four in the US. Dev’s debut album called The Night The Sun Came Up. is set for 20 September 2011 release.

Two songs in “Something Borrowed” movie, played by the 90s cover band with lyrics.

1st song:

How’s It Going To Be by Third Eye Blind

Lyrics:

I’m only pretty sure that I can’t take anymore
Before you take a swing
I wonder what are we fighting for
When I say out loud
I want to get out of this
I wonder is there anything
I’m going to miss
I wonder how it’s going to be
When you don’t know me
How’s it going to be
When you’re sure I’m not there
How’s it going to be
When there’s no one there to talk to
Between you and me
Cause I don’t care
How’s it going to be
How’s it going to be
Where we used to laugh
There’s a shouting match
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch
A silence I can’t ignore
Like the hammock by the
Doorway we spent time in swings empty
Don’t see lightning like last fall
When it was always about to hit me
I wonder how’s it going to be
When it goes down
How’s it going to be
When you’re not around
How’s it going to be
When you found out there was nothing
Between you and me
Cause I don’t care
How’s it going to be
And how’s it going to be
When you don’t know me anymore
And how’s it going to be
Want to get myself back in again
The soft dive of oblivion
I want to taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion oblivion
How’s it going to be
When you don’t know me anymore
How’s it going to be
How’s it going to be
How’s it going to be

2nd song:

Round Here by PT Walkley (Original by Counting Crows)

Lyrics:

Step out the front door like a ghost
Into the fog where no one notices
The contrast of white on white.
And in between the moon and you
Angels get a better view
Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right.
And I walk in the air between the rain, through myself and back again
Where? I don’t know
Well, Maria says she’s dying
Through the door I hear her crying
Why? I don’t know
Round here, we always stand up straight
Round here, something radiates
Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand
She said she’d like to meet a boy who looks like Elvis
And she walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land
Just like she’s walking on a wire in the circus
She parks her car outside of my house and takes her clothes off.
She says she’s close to understanding Jesus
And she knows she’s more than just a little misunderstood
She has trouble acting normal when she’s nervous
Round here we’re carving out our names
Round here we all look the same
Round here we talk just like lions
But we sacrifice like lambs
Round here she’s slipping through my hands
Run home, sleeping children better run like the wind
out of the lightning dream
Mama’s little baby better get herself in
out of the lightning
She says “it’s only in my head”
She says “Shhhhh I know it’s only in my head”
But the girl in the car in the parking lot
Says “Man you should try to take a shot
Can’t you see my walls are crumbling?”
Then she looks up at the building
Says she’s thinking of jumping
She says she’s tired of life
She must be tired of something
Round here she’s always on my mind
Round here hey man got lots of time
Round here we’re never sent to bed early
and nobody makes us wait
Round here we stay up very, very, very, very late oh
I can’t see nothing… nothing round here
Will you catch me if I’m falling
Will you catch me if I’m falling
Will you catch me cause I’m falling down on you
I said I’m under the gun around here
Oh man I said I’m under the gun around here
And I can’t see nothing
Nothing round here
